MEET THE FOUNDER
Hi, I’m Taylynd!
I’m a 7th-generation farmer, founder of Know Where It Grows, and a full-time college student studying Agricultural Communications and Agricultural Business at Dickinson State University. I also run my own cattle company, Dendora Valley Cattle Co., which I started as a teenager.
My mom is a teacher and my dad is a farmer. Growing up, I watched two of the most hardworking people I know shape lives in completely different ways. Somewhere along the way, I realized I didn’t want to choose between their worlds. I wanted to combine the best of both. That’s how Know Where It Grows was born.
When I got to high school, I realized something surprising. Most kids had no idea where their food came from. Some thought chocolate milk came from brown cows. Others believed farmers only wore overalls and that food just came from the store. That moment changed everything for me.
Since then, it has been my mission to close that gap. Through classroom visits, science experiments, and hands-on ag activities, I help students discover the truth behind the meals on their plates and the clothes on their backs. Running my cattle company and working toward my degrees allows me to bring real-world experience into the classroom so every lesson is rooted in something honest, engaging, and impactful.
Know Where It Grows has now reached over 15,000 students in more than 150 classrooms, and we’re just getting started. I believe agriculture belongs in every classroom, and when kids know where it grows, they grow with it.
Not all kids have the opportunity to visit a farm, but I can bring the farm to them.
